And Another One

by Geoff

Fresh off the success of his "Land of the Dead," zombie-master George A. Romero has decided to "go indie" on his next "Dead" sequel, which will be called "Diary of the Dead" and goes into production this October.

Whole story

I've been posting so much about ZOMBIES!!! I should make a specific blog for that species.

Bish, Boom, Ba!

I think I mentioned this before: Recently I have gone comic book crazy. I went the first 23 years of my life not really caring for them. When I was a kid I did buy Batman, Superman and other books of that nature, but I never read them. They were an investment, and decoration for my bedroom walls (don't worry, I kept them bagged and boarded).

Something happened last summer. After seeing BATMAN BEGINS twice, within the same weekend, I felt a void in my soul. Although I had the "Complete Batman Book" I wanted to know more. So, I bought some Batman comic books.

A year and some days later comic books are my smack. I'm like a crack fiend searching for his next read. My fiancee made me a comic book jar. Any loose change I see, hear, or feel I grab and put it in the jar. It also doesn't help that a comic book shop is only 3 blocks away from my new house and the owner now knows me by name.

The point of this post wasn't to talk about my problem, I wanted to discuss what I have been reading recently.

THE WALKING DEAD. If you like zombies, I know I do. This comic is for you. It feels like NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, it's even in black and white, but more epic. Our fearless leader wakes up from a coma in a deserted hospital (yes, very 28 days later like) in a small town outside of the A.T.L. Rick learns very quickly what is going on. ZOMBIES!!! That's whats going on. He treks out to find his family and he does, but not before he finds some more ZOMBIES!!!

Rick and his family are part of a RV riding, rambling group of living folk who are looking for a safe place to live. Everywhere they go though is infested with...ZOMBIES!!!

I just finished reading volume 3. They found a prison, which was, of course, brimming with the LIVING DEAD!!! I AM TALKING ZOMBIES!!!

I absolutely love the book. I can't wait to read the rest.

TWD is published by Image Comics who publishes other interesting titles that I want to eventually pick up. One is called BATTLE POPE. It is also written by the same guy who writes TWD.
The book tells the tale of a hard drinking, womanizing Pope condemned by God for his own evil ways, who is called to action to save Saint Michael, with the help of Jesus H. Christ, becoming mankind's final hope in a world overrun by demons following the Apocalypse.

I'm hoping to check out BATTLE POPE once my jar is full to the top.

I Didn't Know That

Since the day I was birthed I was destine for one thing. Well, one thing in my family. Other than being awesome the stars were aligned for me to be the family IT man. I see it as a torch being handed down to me from my dad. Just like when Superman died, 4 or 5 superman like beings flew out of his butt and took his place. The only thing, these new super beings only possessed one or two of Superman's unlimited powers. For example there was "Man of Steel," he looked like the Tin man on steroids. Well, that is me -- I'm not tin nor on steroids, nor did my dad die. He is just drunk.

You see when I was growing up my dad was the handy man of the family. He fixed cars, toilets, lights, ceilings. If it was broke he could fix it. He can still do that today, but he is a little more wobbly. When I reached the appropriate age I was called upon to fix things. But I can't fix everything. Like the "Man of Steel" I only possess some powers. My power...technology.

I don't know how it happened, but it did. I got a computer and people assumed. I don't even feel I am that technologically advance. I'm just a regular guy who stays on top of his stuff. I can barely code a web-page (although I am getting better), I never installed, ran, or even messed with Linux (Although me know what Linux is might give me a slight advantage over some) .So, here is my list of technology based items that I assume people know, but they don't.

1.BitTorrent

People! It isn't 2000 anymore, stop using Kazaa. This is file sharing. As of right now it can't be beat. If everyone used bit torrent we would be living in a peaceful world. You here me terrorist? bit torrent.

2.del.icio.us

Awesome web page. Awesome service. If you are a bookmarking, pack-rating fool this is for you. Any web page you stumble on and like just save it to del.icio.us. You can also check out what other people are saving.

3.RSS

Really Simply Sydication. It is like having a magazine or newspaper subscription, but online. And instead of receiving it up daily, weekly, or monthly, RSS keeps you up to the minute. You can subscribe to countless web pages, CNN, woot, or even my page.

There are some more things of course, but I just don't have the time, maaaaan.
