First Rule About Picnic. No One Talks About Picnic.

I received this email this afternoon while at work.

"All-

Next week's celebration in honor of our (my company's name) veterans will include a picnic style luncheon, but it is NOT a picnic.

I know you all understand the nature of the event, so please do NOT refer to it as a PICNIC, especially in any dialogue with a customer. Call it a luncheon.

We can not allow any perception on the part of our customers that "... (my company's name) is having fun at the government's expense".

Make sure our personnel understand and refer to the event in the same way. "

Picnic = fun

Luncheon = business

It's out doors, its during the day; grills, hot dogs, and hamburgers are involved. I would classify this event as a BBQ - not a picnic or a luncheon.

Either way, I'm not going. Tools.

    Why not going, sounds like fun???
    Anyway, yep pretty silly, to invite for a picnic, but asking that for further conversation the picnic is reffered to as luncheon
